The house that didn’t save me.

And why I love it more because it didn’t.

The House That Didn’t Save Me. — Episode Two — press to listen

Friend,

Last week I asked you a question and then ended the episode without answering it. Which was convenient. Episode Two is the answer: a place you thought would fix you, and what happened when it didn’t.

It is the inn at nine thousand feet, the years I spent confusing movement with progress, a guest who remembered me before I’d decided which me I was, and, because a podcast like a breakfast needs something on the plate that isn’t feelings, the house scone recipe. Altitude included, and written down, because you will want it.

Listen to Episode Two

Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, iHeart, or wherever you already listen. New episodes when they are ready, and not before.

The film

This one you can watch.

Every episode now has a film the house paints itself: a navy sky, a thousand starlights, and the words arriving on screen at the instant they are spoken, then burning out into sparks. It is the episode, as light. I am unreasonably fond of it.

Watch the film

On YouTube, on Spotify, and inside Apple Podcasts on newer phones. Press play and the episode simply becomes a film.

The playlist

Episodes among the songs.

On Spotify there is now a playlist called Galena House: the songs I write and build to, with the episodes seated among them where they belong. Sixteen hours of the creative mind, if you want to live in it for an afternoon.

That is everything worth sending this week. If the episode finds you somewhere loud, I hope some of the hush travels.

Some things you fix because they’re broken. Some things you fix because your hands need somewhere to be.
