Letter from the Author
Every morning here at the Inn begins quietly — the hum of the espresso machine, a soft light through the kitchen window, the sound of water warming for coffee. It’s in those small, ordinary moments that Still, by Design was written.
This book was never meant to be loud. It was meant to be true. It’s about stillness as courage — about how returning home, to a place or to yourself, can be an act of grace.
When I came back to Frisco, I thought I was rebuilding a career. What I really found was a rhythm — a way of listening again. The Inn reminded me that hospitality is another word for love. That care, presence, and attention can transform not only a space, but a person.
Every page of Still, by Design carries a piece of this place — the laughter in Plato’s Corner, the snowlight through the windows, the scent of coffee and pine. The story belongs to the people who have passed through these doors and left something kind behind.
Thank you, Frisco — for your patience, your spirit, and your mountains that teach us to breathe again. And thank you, Bruce, for building something beautiful enough to hold us all.
