Come In. It's Already Warm. is on Kindle now, for pre-order. It arrives on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 26 November, the same day as the hardcover.
I made this book to be held. It is a large hardcover, eight and a half by eleven, the kind you leave on a table so whoever sits down can open it. But not everyone who keeps a house has a table to spare, or a shelf, or a quiet hour. Some of the keepers I know read on their phones at the end of a double shift, in the car before they go back in. I wanted there to be a way in for them too.
What is on the Kindle
The whole book. Elias and his autumn at the inn, every chapter. The hand-drawn topographic maps of the country around the house, the seventeen plates drawn in the maps' own hand, the views as they stood, and the recipes, set so you can cook from them with the screen propped against the flour tin.
It is $9.99, and when you pre-order it will simply be there on your device the day it comes out.
Two ways in
The signed hardcover comes from the house: $79, signed at the front desk, sent the week it arrives, shipping in the United States on us. It is the one to give.
The Kindle edition is the one to keep close. Read it first, then give the hardcover to the person who keeps your house.
Either way, it is the same book: a story for the keepers of the world, and for the storytellers who notice them. It is No. 2 in the Come In. series. No. 1, Still Here., is five readings on the podcast this month, and on Kindle too.
